From the far south of the land of Samba and Carnaval, comes a band who knows no boundaries. The Brazilian Progressive Metal act Daydream XI, presented itself in 2014 with a courageous debut album, featuring a 24-minute song as the title track and hovering across many styles and colors. Their sophomore album “The Circus of the Tattered and Torn” put the band on the Prog Metal radar and was praised as a masterpiece by musical critics all around the world.
Founded by guitarist Marcelo Pereira and lead by singer/guitarist Tiago Masseti, the group have performed alongside some of the leading names in Progressive Music, like Periphery, Symphony X, Devin Townsend, Pain of Salvation, King’s X and many others. Their music grabs the listener by the depth of the lyrical content combined with blatant virtuosity and versatility. The soulful and aggressive vocals of Masseti combined with the pleasing melodies of Pereira’s playing makes the band stand out among the many technicalities of the modern Prog world.
The band is currently working on the follow up for TCOTTAT. Anyone who’s interested in knowing more about the process should subscribe to the mailing list below and keep in touch. After all, just like you, we are tattered and torn.
Following the sonic experiments of The Death of Art and the band’s journey as an independent artist, Daydream XI presents ‘Poison’ a mix of old school 70’s Prog Rock with Death Metal elements and a catchy Pop chorus.
Written by frontman Tiago Masseti, the song is a reflection on the anxiety that accompanies the life of artists and the hardship of dealing with past accomplishments and failures.
The Death of Art is the first Daydream XI official release since the band's highly-acclaimed sophomore album The Circus of the Tattered and Torn. It marks a further incursion into the progressive aspects of their music and it's also the band's first release as an independent artist.
Written by frontman Tiago Masseti, the song dives deep into his discontent with the music industry, the way society consumes art and his personal relation to the songwriting process as a way to cope with reality. It carries a hopeful message, yet taking the listener through a dark path to get to it.
